What Should I Pack?

Suppose you have sensitive, delicate, or valuable items that you want to ensure are packed in a specific way. In that case, you can communicate your wishes with our team, or you can pack up those personal belongings yourself. We understand that some items you own you want to keep private. Please let us know if you have boxes or bags that you pack that you wish to move to your new location yourself. If you have a room designated for these items, let your moving team know to keep these items separate from your belongings and boxes they are moving. 

Additionally, for hazardous or combustible items you own, we are unable to move in our trucks. Please take a look at our frequently asked questions for common moving questions.

Packing Tip: Boxes you have packed yourself label as packed by owner or PBO. Labeling will allow our team to identify the items you will be moving and unpacking yourself.

Preparing for Full-Service Movers

First things first, before you have our moving team come to pack up your belongings, make a list of all your items. Another way to prepare is to label the boxes you packed and things you want to be packed up or moved by our team. Once you have a completed list, make sure to turn off the gas for any gas appliances we will be moving. In addition, make sure your fridge and any ice makers or standalone freezers have been unplugged and defrosted for 24 hours. You will also want to make sure if you are moving a washer machine, it has been disconnected from the waterline and drained. Draining the washing machine will ensure no leaks occur in transit, possibly ruining items in cardboard boxes.

Another time-saver and therefore a money saver for you would be to organize your house. Unplug all electronics, wrapping cords around the item it goes with. Another time-saver is to disassemble your bedframes or any other furniture that can be taken apart. Our team can handle these steps, but it will take extra time, which will add costs to what you will pay.

Packing Tip: Give away or pack perishable food into a cooler with lots of ice to prevent spoiling. You will want to move the perishable food yourself as the inside of moving trucks can get quite warm.
