Expect More Moving In 2021

2020 was a rough year for everyone. Plans were thrown off the rails everywhere, and many people's lives felt like they were frozen in place. Due to this, the expectation is that there weren't too many people moving.

In reality, this wasn't the case at all. According to a Pew Research Foundation study, 22% of adults in the United States either moved or knew someone that moved during 2020. The reasons for these moves varied from job changes to students leaving their college dorm rooms. Of course, with so many people moving, it would be a logical assumption that there will be less movement in 2021. It turns out that isn't the case.

Moving Will Go UP in 2021

According to a study performed by Neighbor.com, the expectation of 2021 is that moving is going to increase. While it's true that 2020 had a surprising increase in moving, it was still a rough year financially for many Americans. So we shouldn't be surprised when looking at the research data to see that most of those surveyed are moving for cost reasons. 

However, a significant portion of people was surveyed that are doing so for another reason. 54 percent of people who plan on moving say they will now own a home. This surprising rise in homeownership could be something that people delayed last year due to the world's circumstances.

What Does This Mean For You?

If you're planning on a move yourself in 2021, then all of this could be exciting or concerning. The more people who move, the more opportunity to purchase hold homes or find new apartments to move into, but it also means that moving services like ours will be busier.
